Cajon Pass Sub-Division

The Cajon Sub-Division is at the southern end of Pacific & American Railroad and runs from West Colton to Mojave. The Cajon Sub-Division features several major yards including a hump yard at Barstow. There is a variety of industries along the route including Cargill Grain, East Victorville Cement, Riverside Cement, Borax Soap, Edwards Air Force Base and PRC DeSoto to mention a few. BNSF rules apply to this route. Liveries include P&A, BNSF, ATSF, Union Pacific and Southern Pacific.

The Cajon Sub-Division connects to the Tehachapi Sub-Division at Mojave and to the North Eastern Railroad's Death Valley & Western at Barstow. These connections can be viewed on the main route map and are further illustrated on the Cajon Sub-Division map. These interchange points allow for the transfer of responsibility to these other roads to provide for inter-vr work orders.

Several add ons and patches have been released for the Cajon Pass Route. All of these add ons and patches can be purchased or obtained from the 3D TrainStuff web site.

Pacific & American work orders will use the Cajon Pass Route equipment as well as the available add on equipment. The actual requirements will be noted in the work order readme files. Be sure to check the requirements of a work order before you attempt to install it. If you are missing any equipment you will have problems and may not be able to install the activity.

Pacific & American will be using equipment and activities for Cajon Sub-Division work orders from:

·         The Cajon Pass - High Desert Rails Edition Route

·         Cajon Pass Activity Expansion Pack 1

·         Santa Fe 3751 over Cajon Pass

·         Vintage Trains over Cajon Pass (when available later this year)

·         Tehachapi Pass,  Tehachapi Pass add ons & equipment

·         Cascade Crossing equipment

·         The P&A Fleet

You will not have to download trains from any place other than Pacific & American. We host our own trains which use our physics to make them compatible with 3D TrainStuff equipment and to make them as real as we can make them and still be fun to use. They can be found on the P&A Fleet pages. However, you will have to purchase the routes and other add ons to run work orders that require them.

THE CAJON PASS ROUTE - HIGH DESERT RAILS EDITION for Microsoft Train Simulator

The Santa Fe Railway was the first railroad to use Cajon Pass as its entry point into the Los Angeles area. The railway completed its second line, the eastward track, which has a ruling grade of 3% back in 1913.

Things on the hill have pretty much remained unchanged until the 1970s at which time with the advent of longer freight cars like the 89-foot piggy back and 89-foot autorack cars Santa Fe had to make a major line change up at Summit to accommodate the longer freight cars. So the mainline was lowered about 50 feet, a sharp 10 degree curve was eliminated, and the old track alignment was straightened out.

Southern Pacific came onto the scene in 1966 with the construction of the "Palmdale Cutoff" which gave that railroad a less congested route into West Colton and the greater Los Angeles basin from northern California.

This 90s version of our Cajon Pass train simulator add-on has well over 258 miles of accurate grades, prototype signaled mainlines, junctions, yards, stations, sidings, industrial spurs, realistic scenery, and natural terrain with beautiful distant mountains. And we included three famous railroad subdivisions, including the "Palmdale Cutoff".
