Pacific & American Hood Pass Sub-Division

Hoodoo Sub-Division

The Pacific & American Railroad will utilize version 1.0 of Hoodoo Pass as the Hoodoo Sub-Division of the Belle Plaine Division. The Hoodoo Pass route is a freeware route created by Kip Crawford for North Eastern Railroad.

At Trentwood, on the southern end of the Hoodoo Sub-Division, there is a southbound connection to the Whitefish Sub-Division .

The northern end of of the Hoodoo Sub-Division ties into the Canadian West Division on the Shuswap Sub at Kamloops.

The Hoodoo Sub-Division features approximately 245 miles of track. The main yard on the sub-divison is located at Fredrick at the northern terminus of the sub-division. By crossing the summit of the Selkirk Mountains at Hoodoo Pass, the Hoodoo Sub-Division shaves over 200 miles off the previous routing.

There are three mines on this sub-division and long coal drags are not uncommon. Although the primary source of revenue for the Hoodoo Sub-Division is freight there are still a number of passenger platforms and this portion of traffic increases as the snows begin to fall.

Pacific & American will be using equipment and activities for Hoodoo Sub-Division work orders from:

·         The P&A Fleet

·         The Tehachapi Pass II and add-ons

·         Cajon Pass Route and add-ons

·         Cascade Crossing equipment

You will not have to download trains from any place other than Pacific & American. We host our own trains which use our physics to make them compatible with MSTS routes and equipment and to make them as real as we can make them and still be fun to use. They can be found on the P&A Fleet pages. However, you will have to purchase the routes and other add ons to run work orders that require them.

While Hoodoo Pass is a fictional railroad created from the fertile mind of Kip Crawford it is modeled to represent a section of the Rocky Mountains in Idaho and Montana. Although mining is the predominant theme there is abundant opportunity for passenger, switching and through freight operations.

This realistic route has been incorporated into the Pacific & American Railroad as the Hoodoo Sub-Division of the Belle Plaine Division. The Hoodoo Sub-Division includes over 200 miles of mainline track. Also included are two branches. The Sprague Branch is 32 miles long and provides access to Cascadia Mine #1. The Blossburg Cutoff is 12 miles long and connects near the center of the Sprague Branch and returns back to the main line providing an alternative path to and from Sprague.

The Hoodoo Sub-Division contains one main yard located at Fredrick. There are three smaller yards, one located at each mine. In addition there are approximately 30 industry sidings along the mainline. The main line is mostly single track with approximately 35% of the main being double track.
