Pacific & American Railroad Job Opportunities

The Pacific & American Railroad has a variety of positions open from time to time. Everyone is encouraged to apply for any position for which they feel they are qualified.

Current Job Opportunities:

Engineer
Applicants for this position should have a thorough working knowledge of MSTS, route installation, euipment installation and train operation in a variety of different circumstances. This IS NOT a training environment. For a more complete description of our required qualifications please review our Staff Guidelines. If you are able to meet our requirements and wish to apply for the position of engineer then fill out our Application.

Work Order Creator
While there is no specific job position in this category all qualified P&A engineers are encouraged to consider work order creation as one more way to enhance the Pacific & American Railroad experience. Your qualifications as a P&A engineer provide you with the raw materials to fill this position.

In addition, engineers filling this position will be allowed to experience all of the frustration of using the MSTS Activity Editor. They will feel the joy of running an activity multiple times while they try to work out the timing of Artificial Intelligence (AI) meets. You will be able to learn all of the dirty little secrets of reverse points and other juicy tidbits. A good and active sense of humor is an asset too.

There are numerous locations where you can seek assistance and to help you avoid the pitfalls experienced by others who have embraced this rewarding activity. Look in the activity creation chat rooms at NERR and Train-Sim. Post your questions and ask for assistance if you are unable to understand any portion of the proces. In the end, you will enjoy the very rewarding experience of being notified that your creation has been accepted and other engineers have run your activity and enjoy it also.

Our Operations Director is Bob Artim and you should coordinate your work with him. He is available to discuss your ideas if you are concedrned about proper railroading or P&A proceedures. He may also be able to give you some suggestions about activities we would like to see created here at P&A.

Please make yourself VERY familiar with our Work Order Guidelines. These guidelines have been developed as the result of two years experience with NERR. Each requirement is there for a reason. If you feel that you must deviate from these guidelines you should discuss your needs with the Operations Director first. P&A reserves the right to refuse any work order at any time. Failure to adhere to our basic guidelines without prior approval will probably result in a rejection slip. If you do not know how to do something or do not understand our reasoning then please ask, ask, ask!

If you are aware of a real special activity for one of our routes that meets our criteria and has been created by someone outside the P&A family we encourage you to seek their permission to convert the activity so that it will utilize our equipment. In this circumstance you should be sure to give credit to the original activity creator in addition to noting your efforts to convert to P&A equipment.

NOTE: Work Order Creators may ONLY report the time required to run the activity One Time after it has been accepted by the Operations Director.
