Pacific & American Railroad Job Application

Before you apply to become a member of the Pacific & American Railroad please take a moment and make sure that you are familiar with the requirements here at the P&A.

  • Have you read and do you understand the Operations Manual?
  • Have you read and do you understand the Staff Guidelines?
  • Are you experienced enough to install routes, activities, consists and rolling stock without help?
  • Are you able to operate a locomotive safely within MSTS?
  • Are you committed to running a minimum of two work orders per month?
  • Are you prepared to monitor and participate in the forums?
  • Can you devote some time to participate in the company chats we will have?

If you answered yes to all of the above questions then you are ready to begin the application process. If your answer was "No" to any of the questions please review the required material and/or reconsider your decision to apply to P&A.

We are truly serious when we say that there will be minimal support here. If you are just learning about MSTS or are unable to make a serious commitment to P&A then you should consider joining one of the other fine VR's such as NERR or OVS.

If you're still with us then here is a summary of the application process.

  • Fill out the following application form. Note: Be sure to provide a valid email address and that your spam filter will accept the automatic message that will be sent upon submission of your application. If the email is returned to the P&A Human Resources department for any reason no additional effort will be made to contact you and your application will be deleted.
  • The email that you receive will advise you that your application has been received and is under consideration. Please be patient. The Pacific & American Railroad is staffed by volunteers who have a real world life that sometimes interferes with our having fun. If you have not received a response within 4 - 5 days then please contact us.
  • Once your application has been evaluated by the Human Resources Department you will receive another email. If your application is approved you will be assigned an Engineer number and provided with additional directions on how to begin enjoying the Pacific & American Railroad experience!
  • If your application is turned down we will explain why and what you might do to qualify in the future.
  • You will be placed on probation until you have completed and properly recorded a minimum of 15 hours into the Pacific & American Timeslip System (PATS).
  • The system will automatically monitor your time and promotions will come as you complete work orders and submit your time.
  • To reach full Engineer status will require completion of either the Steam or Diesel Engineers Training course at either vNERR or vOVS. Credit will be allowed in the event you have completed either of these courses prior to becoming a member. Presentation of your certificate of completion awarded by either of the above VR's will be required to receive credit. Send a copy to the Human Resources Department.
  • The final and most important part of the process is to HAVE FUN!
